The short version

AltPantry is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, AltPantry earns from qualifying purchases.

This means that when you click certain links on this site and make a qualifying purchase on Amazon, we may earn a commission. Using the link does not add an AltPantry fee to your purchase.

How affiliate links are used here

Selected ingredient and substitute pages may include a clearly labeled shopping card that links to relevant Amazon search results. Substitute names in the comparison table remain informational and are not shopping links. Paid links include our Amazon Associates tracking tag.

We use search-result links rather than specific product links because we cannot test every product currently for sale, and product availability changes constantly. You get to compare the available options and pick what fits your budget and preferences. We never receive product samples or sponsorship from any specific brand.

How our recommendations are made

We do not rank substitutes by commission rate. Rankings reflect ingredient function, recipe fit, practical ratios, and the size of the expected texture or flavor compromise. Commercial terms do not determine rankings. Read the editorial policy for the review method.

If we ever change this — for example, if we accept a paid product placement — we will disclose it on the specific page where it appears.

Identifying affiliate links

Affiliate links are visibly described as Amazon or paid links and are marked in code with rel="sponsored". A disclosure appears next to the commercial placement.

Other affiliate programs

AltPantry may participate in additional affiliate programs over time (for example, meal-kit services or specialty grocers). Any page using a non-Amazon affiliate program will identify the relationship in the same way Amazon links are identified here.

Your privacy

When you click an affiliate link, the destination (Amazon or another partner) may set cookies according to its own privacy policy. If you opt in to Google Analytics, AltPantry also records an aggregate affiliate interaction event containing the destination, placement, visible link text, search query, substitute name and rank, and page path.
